PROSTITUTION
Rhode Island prohibits not only prostitution, when a person engages, agrees, or offers to engage in sexual conduct with another person in return for a fee, but also “Loitering for prostitution.” Loitering generally occurs when a person attempts to speak with a person in public or stop someone driving in a car for the purpose of prostitution or other commercial sexual activity. Both are punishable by a combination of fines and/or jail time.
