TRESPASS
Rhode Island’s Trespass and Vandalism law covers a wide variety of activity, including throwing objects at motor vehicles, breaking lamps or windows, destruction of library books, graffiti, and desecration of churches or cemeteries. Many of these types of offenses are considered misdemeanors, punishable by a maximum fine of $1,000, up to a year in jail, or community service, some types of vandalism and trespass cross into felony territory, with a maximum penalty of a $10,000 fine and five years in prison.
